Two events worth supporting

Posted by Joseph on 25 April, 2012

Dear friends,

Here is news of 2 events. reported by the Catholic Media Office, which are well worth supporting.

Catholic Parliamentary Office

Dear Supporter

Marriage Campaign

1. The Knights of St Columba gained media coverage for their efforts to support marriage last week when they presented Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon with their petition against same-sex marriage. Interestingly they were joined by some Muslim supporters. The Knights will continue their efforts with a ‘Weekend of Witness’ this coming weekend. Please join them if possible in St Alphonsus Parish, 18 Stevenson St West,  Glasgow G40 2ST, on Friday 27th April at 7.30pm when mass will be celebrated; and at the same location for reflection and prayer from 10am till 4pm on Saturday 28th April.

2. The need to protect marriage has also prompted many others across society to take action and we will be holding training sessions for volunteers on 24th and 25th May. So please contact us if you wish to attend one of the sessions which should only take about one hour and will cover the various ways in which you can get more involved. Those who have already volunteered should look out for a direct email which you should have already received.

3. The ongoing work of collecting the names of supporters for theScotland for Marriage petition is still important and ongoing.www.scotlandformarriage.org

People can continue to sign the petition at any time and Catholic parishes will be sent petition sheets in the near future. Our colleagues in the Coalition for Marriage are moving towards half a million signatures on their petition which is huge encouragement and further evidence that politicians have it wrong if they think they can redefine marriage.

Thank you for your continued support,

John Deighan
