Visit of Benedict XVI-A real heart to heart!

Posted by Joseph on 19 September, 2010

Cor ad cor loquitur – Heart speaks unto heart, was the motto on Blessed Cardinal John Henry Newman’s coat of arms, a most apt choice for the theme of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the United Kingdom.

The words were originally taken from a saying of St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622).

St. Francis was known as a ‘Saint of mildness. He is the source of the wise saying, ‘More flies are caught with a spoonful of honey than with a barrelful of vinegar.

Pope Benedict’s visit has been one overflowing with the honey of mildness and love, yet at the same time his message was firm and strong.

Pope Benedict is living proof of another saying of St, Francis, that  “Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength.”

Yes, the heart of our holy pontiff has touched the hearts of Catholics and men of good will. God bless the Pope!
